Optimize End Product Performance and Processing of Virgin and Recycled Thermoplastic Resins

Friday, May 6th, 2022
10:00 am – 11:00 am CET

In this webinar you will learn new strategies to optimize and characterize thermoplastic resins, and how to deal with the additional challenges for recycled thermoplastic polymers.

Obtaining a high quality end product from a thermoplastic polymer involves careful fingerprinting of the raw material (especially if from recycled origin), optimization of the processing conditions and processing aids, and checking the relevant properties of the final product. Many examples will demonstrate the importance of multiple thermal analysis and rheological techniques to achieve this goal in an efficient way.

The event is held via TEAMS. Participation is free of charge.

About The Speakers

Els Verdonck.jpg

Dr. Els Verdonck  is a Senior Applications Scientist with TA Instruments. She received her degree in Chemical Engineering and her PhD from Brussels University (VUB) in Belgium, where she specialized in polymer characterization. Her research was focused on studying interphasial effects in composites and investigating thermoset cure kinetics. She joined TA Instruments in 1998, for providing application support and training to customers, as well as organizing material characterization seminars. She is based in Belgium.

Peter Hodder.jpg

Peter Hodder: As a chemist graduate from the University of Birmingham (UK), Peter originally worked for 8 years in industry, working in the development of novel resins for the coatings markets, for companies like CVP and Total Parachemie. In 1995, he joined TA Instruments as part of a UK rheology application team designed to provide technical support for sales, service and R&D. His role has evolved over time and now Peter provides senior application support for rheology for the European region and our distributor network in EMEA. Peter has recently taken on the additional role of Application Team Leader. He is based in the UK.
